VSA Expands to Metro Boston

VSA Expands to Metro Boston

We are so happy to now support Veterans in the Metro Boston Area!  To date we have supported 99 Veterans, 35 children (our Little Heroes) in 36 communities across the commonwealth.  And our requests for support continue to grow.

Imagine Project Shares some Accomplishments

The Imagine Project is happy to share some of our accomplishments to date:
  • Imagine our Veterans having towels, blankets, pillows, cooking items, dishes and utensils when they move into their own apartment…  We have supplied move-in kits for 48 Veterans and 14 of their children moving out of homelessness in 17 communities.
  • Imagine no Veteran, nor their child, sleeping on the floor, an air mattress or futon.  We have provided 26 beds (4 for little heroes) when there was none.
  • Imagine having your own new shirt, pants, or shoes that fit…when everything you wear is donated.  We have given out over 1880 new pairs of pants, shirts, shoes and sneakers to hundreds of Veterans across the commonwealth.
  • Imagine having dinner with people that do not judge you, that accepted you where you are, regardless of what you may be going through…. We have hosted 84 family nights serving dinner to hundreds of Veterans throughout central MA

Congratulations to William on his new home

Imagine was so fortunate to support Bill with his moving into his new home. Bill had been through more than anyone should ever go through in a lifetime. He had been living on the street for a few years, he had no place to lay his head at night, he was not sure what each day would bring. He finally met the right person to help. We were then contacted to help with a bed and everything needed to get started. Thanks to our incredible supporters, we had a bed delivered and sent a move-in kit and grocery gift card to help get him started. We are so very happy he now has his own pillow and bed to sleep warm and safely each night.

Something so small…goes such a long way, Imagine supports Brian with a cane

Brian was having a hard time due to challenges with his back. As we continue to learn, so many of our Veterans struggle with so many things that many of us take for granted. This was the case with Brian. He needed a cane to help support his walking due to his back, yet he did not have the funds to obtain one. (yes, unfortunately, this is reality for so many of our Heroes). As soon as we learned of Brian’s need, we had a cane delivered within the week. Once he received it, he finally had the confidence to walk outside after being in his house for over two weeks. We are so fortunate to help so many of our Veterans!

Imagine supports our first female Marine!

We are excited to share that Wendy has moved into her own home after living in a shelter for over two years.  One of supporters provided a move-in kit for her and she is now enjoying her own home!

Two Marines moved to their own homes!

We started 2015 by moving two amazing Marines into their new homes this past March, Al and Jimmy.  Fortunately, they are close friends and their apartments were within the same multi-family.  Thanks to our great supporters we were able to provide them with a new bed frame and mattress, everything needed to cook including pots, pans, baking dishes, dinnerware, utensils and all the items needed for their bathroom including towels, bath mats, shower curtains and even cleaning supplies.  Thanks to some great supporters who helped us with gently used furniture including a sleep sofa and a beautiful kitchen set for Jimmy (who plans to double the items for some outdoor furniture for when the weather is nice) and a fabulous leather couch and another great table and chairs for Al.  We were so fortunate to have three of our Imagine Ambassadors to help us with the move – special thanks to Joey, Chris and Mike.  We could never have moved everything without you guys!
