Seven requests for support, including 4 children in last 2 weeks

Friends, we need your help.  We have seen requests for support for our Veterans moving out of homelessness increase incredibly the past several months.  In June, we are near doubling the total number of Veterans supported with moving in 2015.  We welcome any support you can provide towards a grocery gift card, move-in kit or bed for our Veterans.  Thank you

Imagine works with local furniture bank

The Imagine Project, Inc. is so happy to announce our work with Fresh Start furniture bank in Hudson. Fresh start helps restore hope, dignity, and stability in our community by recycling donated furniture and housewares to people in need. They accept donations of gently used household items and distribute them free of charge. Imagine now refers our Veterans to this wonderful, 100% volunteer based organization to help them get furniture and housewares when they move into their own home! Please consider this great organization when you have furniture and home items that you no longer need, we have seen first hand the tremendous value this brings to our Heroes! Imagine Project is supported by local school

The Imagine Project is so grateful to the Student Council at Immaculate Conception School in Marlborough for their incredible support of our Veterans!  We were so happy to meet with them and share stories of our work and how they can make a difference in the lives of our Veterans!  The students at IC raised $385.00 from “Dress Down Days” where they raise money for a local charity by dressing out of uniforms on special days.  The funds from the Student Council went directly to Vielka and her children who moved into their own home!

The Advanced Math & Science Academy girls middle school basketball team joined us Friday to host our 2nd February dinner. Our Heroes were served pizza, a beverage cart wheeled refreshments through the dining hall and made to order ice cream sundaes with homemade cookies topped off their dinner.  A huge thank you to the team and coach Jenna for making this night special for our Heroes.  “It’s so nice to see the kids here and spend some time with them,” Keith, a Veteran at dinner commented, “They are the reason I served my country, to try and make it better for them.”

Imagine supports our 27th Veteran and 8th Junior Hero

We are so happy to share that Imagine has supported our 27th Veteran, Christopher and his 11 year old son with moving into their own home!  With a full move-in kit, complete with a Captain America blanket and a Patriots teddy bear, they are very excited to be in their own home!

Imagine founder, Julie Ciolino, speaks at The 200 Foundation’s Annual Dinner

I had the great privilege to share the story of The Imagine Project during The 200 Foundation’s 51st Annual Dinner last month.  With over 300 guests in attendance, the Foundation honored One Mission, an organization focused on improving hospital conditions for families with children with cancer.  Imagine and United Way were also highlighted during the evening.

We were able to share Imagine’s focus on four core areas:

  • Supporting Veterans moving from shelters into their own home
  • Recreational activities – twice monthly pizza & game nights
  • Community awareness including our Imagine Ambassador program
  • Veterans programs support

Imagine was so fortunate to raise additional funds during the event which will be used toward some recreational programs for our Veterans.  We are currently planning a fall foliage trip for our Heroes!
